keng in cantonese (one of the chinese dialect) means lens. keng’s was founded around the year of 1900 by mr lee weng chuen. it was the pioneer photo studio in malaya. the 1st studio was in high street, now known as jalan tun h.s lee In kuala lumpur, and the photo studio called “keng u”.
the business prospered and expanded from north in sungei petani, kedah to south in kuala pilah, negeri sembilan. each studios were managed by his children and followed by generations.


edmund lee, the 5th generation of the family, embark on his new undertaking called keng’s cinematography that specialized in motion picture. he carry on the legacy of the family visual arts business.
